The purpose of this study was to determine the ability read early, inhibiting and supporting factors students in early reading, find out concepts applied by school teaching grade 1 at SDN Gunungsari. reason for doing research is author's desire beginning method used descriptive qualitative using data collection techniques form observation, interviews, documentation tests. validity triangulation. results showed that 1) students' reading still stated be lacking because total 60 there were 50% whose abilities less or not yet fluent initial reading. 2) factor low first graders Gunungsari due lack attention guidance from parents, so interest learning 3) concept teacher only provides every day providing one word with how separate as syllables.
